Published on by Dr. Kavish Chouhan

A hair transplant is one of the best leading treatments for baldness. There are two popular types of transplant and they are FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), which is also known as strip method too. Even though both the treatments aim at patients satisfaction at the end but each of their procedures are very different from each other.

What is FUE Hair Transplantation?

FUE is a new technique of hair transplantation. In this Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), the hair follicles are extracted from the donor area (mostly from the back of the neck) with the use of a circular micro scalpel.  Then these follicles are prepared for the insertion into baldness area. Then these grafts are carefully inserted into the recipient area, such that it will transform into as natural and realistic hair pattern.

What is FUT Hair Transplantation?

FUT is an ancient technique of hair transplantation. In this Follicular Unit Transplantation procedure, hair s are removed from areas at the back and sides of the scalp and moved to balding areas of the scalp. The surgeon anaesthetic the patient and will remove strips of tissue from the donor area, and then these donor strips are cut into different hair follicular units. Tiny holes are made in the scalp, where the follicular unit grafts are carefully placed.

Which one should you go for?

If frankly speaking, it’s up to you and more significantly your doctor can advice you the correct choice of treatment. If generally speaking, even though FUE treatment is much expensive but has become the worldwide choice as the FUT is now outdated and it take much time to recover than FUE.

Good luck with your decision! Enjoy the new you!
